Melbourne Residence

melbres_cs_hl

Problem: New residence on sloping site with average gradient of 35 deg. No vertical transport solution feasible. Secure access a priority.

Solution: Utilise a RailGlider running through the interior of the building. The carriage rises over the rear wall of the garage at 80° deg. for 3m, then reduces gradient to 45° deg. passing through a corridor within the dwelling and serving all levels. A glazed link connects the garage to the residence. The remote machinery and carriage running gear make the lift's operation quieter than a conventional vertical lift. The RailGlider will be used for movement within the residence and to provide secure all-weather access to and from the garage.
