Issues for Builders when preparing the site for a Homelift
- Dimensions - Minimum dimensions
- Lift Motor Room -
The electrical control and hydraulic power pack are usually located
in the shaft alongside the lift tower and is accessible from
the lower floor.
- Access Door needs to be provided by Builder to the Motor Room
- If separate motor room to be used, a viewing window into lift
shaft be installed (according to spec provided by Homelift)
- Lift Shaft -
Shaft to be constructed using masonary (block or brick) with smooth
render on “Door wall”.
- Alternatively, with 6mm CFC inside lining over studwork (steel
or timber) and external lining to architects detail.
- Shaft ceiling must be minimum of 3000mm above the upper floor level
and covered with safety mesh where it is accessible. If not, a safety
flapswitch needs
to be opened.
- Shaft must be clear, plumb and square (internally) with variations
not to exceed 12 mm at any point.
- Supports for rail brackets at pit, each floor and top level,
- Divider beams between hoistway at each floor and top level, for
guide rail bracket supports.
- Lifting point at top of shaft – to our specification
- No Plumbing or duct work to be run in shaft.
- Power and Communications -
Power and phone connection to lift tower side of pit. Leave 2-3
metres coiled up ready for Homelift to attach.
- Three phase power required – 20 amp
- A GPO Outlet to our spec (if required)
- Chasing of necessary electrical conduits into shaft wall (if
applicable)
- Pit -
Normally 200mm deep pit with a reinforced concrete base to engineers
specifications.
- Walls to be smooth and square, floor to be level, and kept
free of water and debris.
- Openings and Landings -
Builder to Supply and install Lift access Doors
- Builder to complete Framing and Finishing of doorways up to
door track.
- Entrance walls and finished floors are not to be constructed
until door frames and sills are in place.
- All wall and sill supports for openings must be plumb, and
without any protrusions.
- Recesses, supports and patching to accommodate call button
boxes, and signal fixtures (if applicable)
- Options of Auto swing door openers
- Options of Auto opening Sliding Landing doors

- Entrances to be well lit and free from any trip hazards
- Lift Car and Internal Finishes -
Car is normally 2metres High
- Car Flooring is non slip rubber matting. Other options available
e.g. carpet, tiles etc.
- Car has powder coated ceiling panel with 2 halogen lights.
- Car made of Galvinised Steel with Decorwood/Laminex panels
